Our intolerance testing service in Uckfield is designed to help you better understand how your body responds to certain foods and drinks, supporting you in improving your overall health and wellbeing.
What is Intolerance Testing?
Intolerance testing helps identify how your body reacts to specific foods by measuring IgG antibody responses. Unlike allergies, food intolerances can cause delayed reactions, sometimes appearing up to 72 hours after consumption, which can make them difficult to identify without testing.
At Back On Track Clinic, we use YorkTest, an established and trusted provider with over 40 years of experience in food intolerance testing. Using a simple finger prick blood sample, the test analyses your response to over 200 food and drink ingredients.
Results are presented in a clear, easy to understand format, helping you make informed decisions about your diet and lifestyle.
Who is This For?
Intolerance testing may be beneficial if you are experiencing ongoing symptoms that are difficult to explain or manage.
Common symptoms of food intolerance include:
- Digestive issues
- Headaches
- Fatigue
- Skin problems
- Muscle and joint pain
- Difficulty managing weight
If you feel your symptoms may be linked to something in your diet, intolerance testing can provide valuable insight and direction.

The Testing Process
Our intolerance testing process is simple and designed around your needs.
The test involves a quick finger prick blood sample, which is then sent to a laboratory for detailed analysis. Results are typically returned within a few days in an easy-to-understand format.
Your results will be categorised using a traffic light system:
- Green: Normal reactivity, these foods can be consumed as normal
- Orange: Borderline reactivity, reducing these foods may be beneficial
- Red: High reactivity, a short-term elimination period is often recommended
You will also receive a guidebook to help you track your progress and make informed dietary choices moving forward.
Important Considerations
Before taking the test, there are a few important factors to be aware of:
- The test is suitable for individuals aged 2 years and over
- It is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have avoided certain foods for more than six weeks, they may not appear in your results
- If you wish to include avoided foods in your test, they should be consumed 2 to 3 times per week for six weeks beforehand
We are always available to guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
